Just for TEENS

The Y is committed to ensuring that every young person has the opportunity to become a healthy, contributing member of society.  The YMCA of GREATER SPARTANBURG is now offering teen programs to construct self-esteem and self-confidence, learn healthy lifestyle choices, achieve their personal and educational goals, create new friendships, and build lasting relationships in a safe, supportive and engaging environment. Our goals is to impact our community by supporting teens as they develop lifelong habits for health, friendship, social responsibility, and their well-being in an environment which fosters becoming and being a respectful, responsible, honest, and caring individual.

Jada Green

Teen Initiatives Director

Jada is on site at the Willis Road branch working hard to create a new and safe space for teenagers ages 13 to 17 in our Spartanburg, Duncan, and surrounding communities. Her role as a YMCA Lead is restructuring curriculum and building a foundation for our Youth Development Initiatives and Programs.

She graduated from Dorman High School and began her college career at Lander University in the fall of 2016. In college, she worked at the Greenwood YMCA as an After School Counselor and later joined the THOMAS E. HANNAH YMCA as Summer Counselor. In December 2021, Jada graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, and the rest is history in the making!

Times have changed significantly over the years for our growing youth, and Jada feels there is a strong need for Teens to have a safe and constructive space to grow, thrive, and learn. She is working hard to provide these outlets for the Teens of our town and loves that the Y is dedicated to offering our youth healthy and diverse opportunities.

Please reach out to Jada through email or call WILLIS ROAD FAMILY YMCA to leave a message: (864) 310-6400. She would love to hear from you!

During the spring of 2022, the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg kicked-off Teen Night at our MIDDLE TYGER FAMILY YMCA! Teen Night is designed for teens (ages 13 – 17) to kick back, hang out, and have fun with friends. Since the Y provides a safe and positive atmosphere for teens to meet, have independence, and learn the values of respect, responsibility, caring and honesty and all activities are supervised and encouraged by Y staff, we encourage teens to join us and bring their friends.

Teen nights are FREE, include dinner or snacks, and open to members or nonmembers. *All attendees must bring a valid ID.

Activities change and are not limited to but range from: bingo, Karaoke, basketball, pizza or s’mores party, dodgeball, games, icebreakers, swimming, recreational sports, arts & crafts, and best of all F-U-N!
