We are not a typical after school program. We offer a safe place for all students to hang out while nurturing their potential, improving academic engagements and achievements, and building confidence and character while supporting and developing a healthy spirit, mind, and body.
The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg recognizes the growing physical, intellectual, and social competence of the increasingly independent school-age child. Eager to achieve socially and academically while expanding their knowledge of the world, youth seek new challenges, close friendships, and increasing responsibilities.

Meeting Street Academy
YMCA Afterschool Program – Meeting Street Academy
The YMCA of Greater Spartanburg, in partnership with Meeting Street Academy (MSA), is proud to provide a safe, engaging, and enriching afterschool program exclusively for Meeting Street Academy students in 1st grade and above. Designed to support families while helping children continue to learn, grow, and thrive after the school day, the program provides a caring environment where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.
Students are transported from Meeting Street Academy to the Thomas E. Hannah YMCA, where they enjoy a healthy afternoon snack, homework support, structured physical activity, character development, and a variety of hands-on enrichment opportunities. Through the YMCA’s focus on youth development, participants build confidence, strengthen friendships, develop healthy habits, and experience a sense of belonging in a welcoming community.
The program operates from school dismissal until 6:00 PM, with transportation provided by Meeting Street Academy. Enrollment is limited to 100 students to ensure a high-quality experience and strong staff-to-child ratios.
Participation in the program requires an ABC Child Care Voucher. Families must apply for an ABC Voucher before enrolling. Once families receive either an approval or denial determination, they may complete registration. YMCA staff are available to assist families throughout the application process and answer any questions regarding eligibility or enrollment.
